Looking at Lake Eulalia

Looking at Lake Eulalia

The 6th of 125 things about Thurston House, us and the City of Maitland…all in honor of our 125th anniversary next July of the founding of Maitland and the completion of  Thurston House.

Eulalia is a Victorian girl’s name. A Mr. James Willcox from Philadelphia come to this area as a “snow bird” back in the 1880’s. He had a daughter called Eulalie and named this lake after her. Somewhere in time it got changed to Eulalia…no one knows why. We at Thurston House overlook this pristine natural lake with it’s wonderful personality.
