And you thought there wasn’t any covered bridges in Florida. Maitland boasts this covered bridge, built in 1958 but covered in 1988 for a special city celebration. From the surrounding large expanse of green land, the majestic vine covering, and the bubbling of Nina Canal underneath…you could be in New England! This bridge is just minutes from Thurston House bed & breakfast, and is located on Old Horatio Avenue.

The Maitland Chamber hosts it’s yearly Spring Arts Festival this weekend, 4/18 & 4/19. Situated around beautiful Lake Lily, it’s a great way to spend the day. Lake Lily Park is just a short and pleasant stroll from Thurston House. Rooms are still open!

Been wondering what the heck is that big “thing” at the end of our street? Well, announcing our newest area project – The Village at Lake Lily. It is a combination of luxury apartments, retail spaces and restaurants. We have watched the progress carefully and are anxious to find out just what businesses will be moving in there. That will give me more to add to my already quite full Important Links page. It is just a short walk down the street from Thurston House for our guests, and will be very conveniet and fun to have close by. Keep tuned!
